Moving upwards from the Adelaide Plains on winding hills roads, you enter the Adelaide Hills Wine Region which is home to many internationally acclaimed vineyards, that produce an incredible range of red, white and other specialty wines.

Here at Gumeracha, 425 metres above sea level and 30 kilometres from the city of Adelaide, lies the Talunga Winery and Restaurant. Vince and Tina Scaffidi established their vineyard at Gumeracha in the picturesque Adelaide Hills area in 1987. The vineyard is in a cool climate setting, giving a slow ripening period, which allows the natural fruity character of the grapes to be retained in the juice.

Talunga Wines combine the flavours and characteristics that are distinctive to the Adelaide Hills to create outstanding quality, award winning wines.

One Tree Hill Vineyard was planted in 1997 by vigneron and winemaker Vince Scaffidi, together with Angelo Di Cesare(Vince's brother-in-law). It is situated North East of Adelaide, an area which forms part of a new and exciting winegrowing district.

There are approx. 200 acres of Shiraz, Cab Sav, Merlot, Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, Petit Verdot, Temperanillo and Chardonnay, and the Scaffidi Label Wines produced from these grapes have already recieved many accolades and Vince is well respected as the Vigneron and Winemaker.

The soil is rich clay over limestone mixed with granite rock. Typically terra rossa soils dominates the region.

With an altitude of approximately 200 above sea level the climatic influence in the vineyard is the sea beeze from the Gulf of St. Vincent.

To date there are about 15 other vineyards in the One Tree Hill area and wine produced here have already surpassed the quality of wines grown in other establiushed areas.
